New food waste-to-renewable energy facility will turn leftovers into electrons

Columbia Biogas signs power purchase agreement with PacifiCorp

Portland, Ore.— Columbia Biogas has entered into a Power Purchase Agreement with Pacificorp for the energy output of its plant that will convert commercial food waste to renewable energy. The term of the agreement is 20 years. Initially, the facility is scheduled to generate approximately 3 megawatts of electrical power, which is the equivalent to the amount of electricity to power 3,000 average homes. Ultimately, Columbia Biogas intends to ramp up production to 5 MW.

Columbia Biogas to Enter into Good Neighbor Agreement with Cully Association of Neighbors

Portland, Ore.— Columbia Biogas, a biogas production facility in Northeast Portland that will convert local food waste into energy, is entering into a Good Neighbor Agreement with the Cully Association of Neighbors (CAN). The Cully Association of Neighbors voted to approve the Good Neighbor Agreement at their general membership meeting on June 14, 2011.

Portland, Ore.— Columbia Biogas plans to begin construction in the summer of 2011 on a renewable energy facility in Northeast Portland. The facility will convert food waste into renewable energy and fertilizer products.
